Searching for romance - a romantic flash fiction short story about search engines and holiday romance by Rob Hopcott

In Searching for Romance, a flash fiction short story about search engines and romance, a young lady is on holiday searching online for a birthday gift for the boyfriend she has left back in England. The search engine searches don't find what she wants and the story discusses the limitations of search engine searches.

Parallel to the idea that search engines don't find what people want very well is the idea that romance is difficult to find too, with or without search engines.

Happily for Samantha, the handsome proprietor of the Internet cafe she visits in the romantic holiday location of Lanzarote lends her his mobile cell phone which has advanced built in artificial intelligence search facilities.

Whether Samantha eventually buys a birthday present for boyfriend in England, we never discover. What can be certain is that romance is set to blossom with her new humanly intelligent romantic liaison in Lanzarote.

What do you think about search engines or even romance? Do they provide you the answers you want? I'd love to hear your comments below.

Bye for now
